Blogger Award

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you to Brittany at Deliciously Healthy for awarding me the Versatile Blogger Award! This is my second blogger award and I wish you guys knew how excited I get when I find out about these awards! :)

The rules for this award are as follows:
1.Thank the person who gave you the award.
2. Share seven things about yourself.
3. Nominate 15 newly discovered blogs. (I only have 10! I am still new to the Blog world and my Blog circle is small.)
4. Let your nominees know about the award.

Seven things about ME :)

1. I won a contest to name the new baby Gorilla at the Little Rock Arkansas Zoo in 2006. I was invited to come for Mosi's debut at the zoo, but was in a wedding that day. I still haven't met the little gorilla I helped to name...but definitely one day!

2. I really want a bread maker! I am not a big bread eater, but I love fresh wheat bread. My husband doesn't think I would use the maker enough to justify the money I would spend on it...but I still really, really, want one.

3. I LOVE minor league baseball. Prior to meeting my husband, I only remember going to 2 games ever...and they were both major league games...and I remember being bored at both. BUT I LOVE every minute of the minor league games. The atmosphere, the players, just everything about them !This year we have visited 7 cities to watch games. My favorite team is the Jacksonville Suns!

4. I love being a children's librarian...and credit my career to having to do 2 volunteer hours for a high school club. I chose the library to do my volunteer hours, and never looked back.

5. My Dad's funeral was 10 days before my wedding day. My Dad planned my wedding and passed away the day after we finalized the last bit of planning...I did not want a big wedding, but my Dad wanted it for me. My beautiful wedding was the last gift my Dad gave me...it was perfect...except for him not physically being there.

6. I was recently approved to be a volunteer with the Miracle League of North Alabama. I will be assisting children with physical and mental limitations, so that they can play baseball. I am very excited for the fall season to start!

7. I have tachycardia, which means my heart skips beat and then races to get back in rhythm. This sometime makes exercising challenging. But I have truly fallen in love with physical activities over the past few years. I feel better when I am more active.

Now to pass on the award.... You should definitely check out the following blogs!

  1. That may be the best one of these lists I have ever read, and I've read quite a few. Love the gorilla story, deeply touched by the story about your dad, and I'm a HUGE fan of the Miracle League and have worked with them some here in North Carolina. It's an incredible organization, and the joy in the kids is something that we need more of in today's world.

Thanks for sharing your facts ... good stuff!

  2. Thanks for your comment! I am really excited about the Miracle League! My husband and I caught a miracle game before a Minor League game, and I knew it was something I wanted to be involved with... the closest league to me is a little over an hour away. I am hoping after a year or so of volunteering with the one there I could possible start one in my own community.

  3. Jessica, you seem like such an interesting person. First, I go totally ape over primates. (Pun intended!)For my birthday last year my husband took me to a primate reserve. I'll spare you the details but I loved it. Second, I love shopping thrift stores and see bread machines that are in sealed boxes all the time. I'll bet you could get one for a song. Last, your job sounds like a dream. I worked in a day care during college and developed a deep appreciation for literature for children. Your career must be so rewarding.

Thank you so much for nominating me for the award, it's an honor.

  4. Thanks Karen! I bet the Primate reserve was very interesting. Hmmm...I'll have to keep my eyes open at the thrift stores. I frequent them for clothes, but never look at appliances and homewares much! Thanks for the idea!

  6. I used to love my breadmaker, but I have stopped using it since I found an awesome little bakery in my neighborhood!

You should definitely go meet your little gorilla. Without you, he would be nameless.

    Congrats on your award!

  7. Thanks so much for the blog award! Sorry it took so long for me to get around to thanking you - I've been MIA for the past couple of weeks. I have a lot of catching up to do, but promise to post the award and my list of 7 things soon!

  8. Hi Jessica,

We were running 1min "fast" (7:15), 3min "easy" (10:15). But I'm sure it depends on the person. I'm not super speedy to begin with. :)

    Thanks so much!

I want a bread maker too (but an ice cream maker first!) and I am super not into baseball, although I like baseball movies haha.

And your dad passing before your wedding. Man, that's a beautiful last present your dad gave to you. It's so bittersweet.

    Now GO SEE THE GORILLA!
