Knee

This morning I woke up with some soreness in my knee. Yesterday I walked 2mi at the gym with some major incline. I'm wondering if the extra incline may have bothered my knee. When I am running I usually use 2.0 for the include, but since I was walking I wanted to bump up the incline to keep the calorie burn high. A few years ago, I dealt with a "shifted kneecap." I did physical therapy and took a heavy dose pill of pain /anti-inflammation when it flared up. Just to be on the safe side, I am going to take a day off from the gym today. Tomorrow I will either walk at small incline or bike. I'm just going to take it one day at a time to be careful with the knee.

  1. It's probably wise to give your knee a rest. My knees don't like high heels or inclines (flares up an old snowboarding injury). Sometimes ice helps.
    Feel well soon!

  2. Hi Jessica,

Thanks for the great sleeping tip you left for me! I will definitely check into that. It sounds like something I could do, and certainly seems more interesting than breathe in, breathe out.

That is so sad about your dad..... Just ten days before your wedding..... I'm sorry to learn about that.

Take care of that knee! I'll be back to check on you! Someday I'm going to fix my little follower icon (as soon as I figure out how), but for now, it's one of those creepy silhouettes, and it's attached to a cookies4spartans address. That's me, for now.

Really like the name of your blog. Surprised it was still available, it's so good!

  3. Take it easy on your knee. Better safe than sore and sorry.

  4. yeah... if it hurts... like pain, not just muscle soreness, then it is RICE time (Rest, ICE, Compression, Elevation).. at least for a day.

    Cheers,
    Missa

  5. I hope you are not running on hard surfaces like in the photo. Good cushioned shoes, mid-foot, not heal striking, and running on softer surfaces will give you more longevity as a runner!

I had patello-femoral syndrome years ago and rehabbed it with the right exercises to where it never came back.
